From technology to processing: how the agricultural sector is developing in the Ulytau region

As part of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin's working visit to the Ulytau region, a meeting was held with farmers and representatives of government and quasi-government agencies. Arman Baiganirov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC Agrarian Credit Corporation, and Yerkebulan Zhumzhayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC KazAgroFinance, participated in the discussion.

Since the formation of the region, four projects worth 3 billion tenge have already been implemented, including an agro-industrial cluster and a 500-head dairy farm. The development of the industry is being supported by government support measures. A Comprehensive Livestock Development Plan was launched in 2026, along with a new loan product, "Zhailau," aimed at developing pasture infrastructure, including land irrigation and the acquisition of mobile solutions for transhumance.

The discussion focused on providing farmers with technical equipment. Farmers emphasized the need to strengthen KazAgroFinance's operations in the region and expand its branch network to improve the availability of leasing instruments. The need to develop service centers for equipment maintenance was also noted.

Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed KazAgroFinance representatives to organize their work on the ground, and instructed the Ministry of Industry and Construction, together with the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Manufacturers, to work on opening service centers and ensuring the availability of in-demand agricultural machinery in Zhezkazgan.

During his working visit, the Deputy Prime Minister inspected the progress of construction of the Kengir AGRO agro-industrial complex, which specializes in livestock farming and forage crop cultivation.

In addition, Serik Zhumangarin visited the construction site of the region's first wholesale distribution center and vegetable storage facility, owned by Samadi A Group LLP, with a capacity of 15,000 tons. Commissioning is scheduled for this fall. The company, together with the Baiterek holding and the Agrarian Credit Corporation, will develop a project for meat processing and the production of sausages and canned goods in the region.
